Business partner & co-founder in charge of business development

Born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1963, Michaël Benabou is one of the eight vente-privee.com founders. Today, Michaël is responsible for developing the site’s commercial activity.

Alumnus of Paris’ ISG (Institut Superieur de Gestion) business school, Michaël launched his first company, clothing brand ‘Message’, at the age of 20. In 1991, he took his first steps in the déstockage business with COPAD, an end-of-season wholesale company set up with Jacques-Antoine Granjon, vente-privee.com CEO, and Julien Sorbac, VP partner and co-founder. In 2001, he helped set up vente-privee.com, the international pioneer of the online private sales concept.

In charge of business development, he oversees negotiations with brands and explores new sale sectors, helping reinforce vente-privee.com’s reputation for innovation. The site has diversified its sales to move beyond its prêt-a-porter origins to offer holidays, cars, wines and spirits, homeware and furniture. Michaël is also the driving force behind the international expansion of the company, now open in 7 European countries, and supervises the international buying teams. The company has subsidiaries in Madrid, Milan, London, Barcelona and Düsseldorf to ensure close relationships with local brands.

Michaël has helped make vente-privee.com the trusted partner of many prestigious brands by respecting their values and offering them all the advantages of vente-privee.com’s different services.

With €700 million forecasted turnover for 2010, more than 1,350 employees and shop doors open in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the UK, Austria and Belgium, vente-privee.com is an internet success story both in France and internationally.
